Artuta offers a series of online art classes, focusing on various creative techniques. With our highly interactive live online classes, art learning is no longer limited by location.
From November 2023 explore a multitude of art processes; including observational drawing in still life and portraiture, stop motion animation, and comics drawing. Whether you're building a portfolio or honing your artistry, our classes cater to all levels of students.

Observational Drawing - Space, light and form

Required Materials: Drawing pencils, eraser, paper, and various household items such as home decorations, fruits, tableware, stationery, and more.
Objective: Learn to capture the interplay of light and shadow using everyday household items, transforming them into compelling works of art.

Comics Drawing - Short Comics

- Objective: Learn to tell short, exciting stories through comics, while making simple drawings, with help from a practicing comic artist
- Description: In this workshop, we make creating comics both easy and exciting. You'll learn the art of crafting strong, concise stories, just like those in your favorite comics. Our instructor will guide you through the highlights of short comic production for beginners, from building a narrative to mastering visual presentation.
Observational Drawing - Imaginary Portrait
Date: March 2, 2024

Required Materials: Drawing tools, paper, colored paper, hand mirror, and a smartphone
Objective: Merge observational and creative techniques to produce an imaginable self-portrait with various styles, focusing on using multiple senses for depth in observation.
- Description: In this class, students will explore a unique approach to self-portrait drawing by combining observational and creative techniques. The instructor will guide students to concentrate on one feature of their face, such as the eyes, nose, or mouth. Drawings can range from contour sketches to realistic depictions with intricate details. Students will be encouraged to exaggerate these details to enhance visibility. Furthermore, they are urged to engage their senses, such as touch and hearing, to keenly observe and capture the nuances of their chosen feature.
Animation - Stop Motion Animation
Date: March 16, 2024
Instructor: Jerry
Required Materials: Smartphone with "GIF Toaster" app, tracing paper, scissors, and glue
Objective: Learn stop motion animation
- Description: In this class, students will learn the fundamental concepts of stop motion animation. Stop motion animation is an original filmmaking technique that involves physically manipulating objects frame-by-frame to create the illusion of movement. With the guidance of our Artuta instructor, students will use the smartphone app "GIF Toaster" to complete their short animations.
This course is available for "remote" learning and will be available to anyone with access to an internet device with a microphone (this includes most models of computers, tablets). Classes will take place with a "Live" instructor at the date/times listed below.
